Natural resource management

We visualize Natural resource management as the responsible and broad-based management of the land, water, forest and biological resource-base needed to sustain agricultural productivity and avert degradation of potential productivity. It should ensure social, physical, human, natural and financial capital of the stakeholders. We do this by helping various stakeholders to solve complex real-world problems affecting natural resources in agro ecosystems.

Realizing the skepticism about the practicability of this, INFACT had initiated its activities for effective use and management of natural resources and sustainable agriculture practices. The vision and objectives we uphold surely will help in making a right step based on our social commitment. The major activities under this area are strengthening people’s initiatives, Farmer oriented experiments, core group development, watershed-based programmes, non –conventional energy management and other related activities.

Sustainable agriculture and food sovereignty

We believe that sustainable agriculture is both a philosophy and a system of farming. It has its roots in a set of values that reflects an awareness of both ecological and social realities. It involves design and management procedures that work with natural processes to conserve all resources, minimize waste and environmental damage, while maintaining or improving farm profitability. We visualize creating a system that produces indigenous food that is nutritious, affordable and assuring economic security.

Income generation & livelihood support

Income security of the society is very much important in attaining the environmental health, social and economic equity. We try to achieve this by promoting indigenous systems that are suitable to adopt depending upon the environmental and social conditions and assure reasonable profitability like our Malabari goat breeding programme.

Child rights

Children are one of the main groups that are susceptible to the changing social and economic realities of the modern world. Kerala child right protection net work is a common plat form for persons and organizations who are actively involved in the children’s development. The young age makes them a target to specific kinds of exploitation and adds to their difficulty of defending themselves. Despite the substantial increase in its activities and the varied nature of its involvement INFACT insists on addressing the children in a meaningful manner in each year. Besides the activities through KCRPN INFACT has initiated in several aspects of children for the protection of the fundamental rights.

Health practices

Indigenous health practices are one of the areas which are disappearing from our regular life. This area needs protection and promotion as the resource less poor are depending on this service very much. The objectives of our programmes are to prevent the diseases, assure better sanitation, effective use of water.
