an action research project, supporting the livelihood

Food security through
a sustainable and viable NRM method
Farm planning: Improving the capacity of the farm yard
through a better understanding of the flora and fauna
so that a sustainable income secure multicropping system
can be introduced with active support and guidance of
fellow farmers who are local level experts in their
own respective fields.
Developing a sustainable, equitable
and farmer-led marketing system for vanilla
The project wants to address specific
key problems for the collective and farmer-led marketing
of vanilla. Main objectives of the project are to equip
the farmers with a IT-supported information system and
professional marketing skills, to sensitise and train
(new) vanilla growers in eco-friendly production and
quality standards, and to run a systematic collective
marketing system. The last objective is to test on-farm
vanilla drying units to promote value-addition. >

Aroor Prawn Peeling Women Programme
Changes in market structure, social system,
lifestyle etc have direct impact on the resource poor
sections of the society. Prawn peeling women workers
of Kerala is no different from what described above.
They are exposed to exploitations like low wages, poor
sanitation facilities, various health problems etc.
INFACT has taken measures for the welfare and empowerment
of the unorganized prawn-peeling women workers in this
sector. >
